“a sea” published in CV2 vol. 39 no. 1

Last November I was invited to read and present at CV2 magazine’s 40th Anniversary celebrations. It was an incredible week of readings, panel discussions, a film screening and gallery exhibition, and with poets Jonathan Ball, Lori Cayer, Dennis Cooley, Ray Hsu, Maurice Mierau, Jennifer Still, Chimwemwe Undi, Katherina Vermette and others, the company couldn’t have been better.

39-1-cover-web-200I chose to read “a sea” at this event, a new long poem/mash-up set on the shore of the North Atlantic at sundown. The piece describes the tension between the speaker’s encounter with “a sea,” and with the greater world accessible to them in that particular moment through their smart phone.

It was an honour to be part of CV2‘s anniversary, and an honour to see that poem published in the Summer 2016 “Water” issue of the magazine.

Also in this issue is a fascinating interview with Sue Goyette (read an excerpt here) and my favourite poem of 2016, “Homing, Solstice” by Margaret Sweatman. Copies of the issue are available from CV2.
